Golf Season Is Here! Are You Ready?

With the warm weather finally here, golfers are finally getting a chance to swing their clubs.  Although golf can be a great way to stay in shape, it can also be a potential cause of back pain and a call to your chiropractor.  Here are a few tips to help you avoid injury.

1.  Get the right fit.  Playing with clubs that don't fit can hinder your game and lead to discomfort.  Consult a pro to ensure your clubs are the right height, are made of material appropriate for your arm strength and have the right grip for you.

2.  Take lessons.  The right swing techniques can do more than improve your score, it can spare you from unnecessary pain.  Working with a professional is a great way to learn the basics.

3.  Warm up and warm down.  Take a few minutes to stretch before and, more importantly after your game.  Start with a brisk walk then do some light stretching.  Ask us for a sheet with specific stretches. We will be posting a short video that demonstrates a great pregame routine shortly.

4.  Push, don't carry your golf bag. If you prefer to carry your bag, make sure you use a double-strap bag and keep it as light as possible.

5.  Choose the right shoes.  Make sure you choose a shoe with adequate support in the archive.

6.  Drink lots of water.  Dehydration can cause fatigue and increase your risk of injury.
